Founded in 1985 for the purpose of promoting independence amongst the blind and striving to render the blind self-supporting through social and economic empowerment initiatives. We believe in the principles that the protection of the rights and the dignity of individual blind persons with the goals that full equality and social integration for the blind can only be achieved if blind people took their destiny into their own hands and at the same time recognizing inputs from dedicated sighted professionals who are supportive to the cause of the association.
Moreover, the purpose is to work for the prevention and where possible, for the elimination of blindness; to work towards the advancement of the well-being with the goal of equalization of opportunities, and full participation in society if necessary, by special, legal or administrative measures; to strengthen the self-awareness of blind persons and to develop their personalities; to strive for equal access to public and private facilities alike such as education, communication, transportation, etc., as well as to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and experience in the field of blindness.
